Songs of Praise on Palm Sunday + Preview

*Update (31 March): Please forgive me if I'm not posting any Libera updates on the spot as sometimes I'll be quite busy with college. Anyways, the song that will be airing tomorrow is "How Shall I Sing That Majesty?". That's awesome. Hopefully I can catch it before my bed time tomorrow :).

26 March:
I'm sure many of you are aware that Libera will be appearing on Songs of Praise on Palm Sunday, April 1. It will aired at 4:45 pm (UK time). Here's what the BBC website said: Sally Magnusson presents traditional hymns from All Saints Church, Pittville, Cheltenham, with performances by Only Men Aloud, Mary-Jess and Libera. The story of Jesus's last week is told with Bible readings by Julian Rhind-Tutt.

Today Fan de Lok capture a screenshot of the preview of Songs of Praise next week. Thank you. The preview was shown today. In the picture shows Eoghan and the rest of the boys singing "Still, Still, Still". Since they aired that song last December, and it's filmed at the same place which is All Saints Church, then maybe it'll be the same boys in the "Still, Still, Still" video who will be singing a new song. Not sure what is it yet but we'll find out soon.

Hopefully someone records the whole show on Sunday, as some of us might not be able to see it.

Interview With Kavana and Barney

First is an interview with Ralph and Barney, now is an interview with Kavana and Barney. This is an email interview by Flora Yeo which you could see it here. But I'll also post the whole interview here in case anything happens to it. Thanks Jimmy Riddle for the link. You're always being updated to Libera things fast :).
What I like about this interview is that for the second question, they would like to try the Hawker food there. Yep, the hawker food is really great. For any fans who are going there too besides Libera, it's a must-try. Malaysia also has hawker stalls too but our style of food is different from Singapore's.
Barney sang in a school play before? I never knew that :D. But it's good to discover your talents at a young age. Even for me, my mom told me that I could hum to "Mary Had A Little Lamb" when I was 6 months old. How nice of his parents to take him out for a special dinner :).
I like Kavana's answer for the last question. Concerts first :).

Always wanted to know how these boys juggled professional singing and school? Or how about the one singer they would like to work with? in2it.sg did an exclusive email interview with 2 of the boys who will be down with their choir for a 2-day concert here in Singapore next week! If you have not gotten your tickets, how about winning a pair of tickets (worth $156) right here at in2it.sg? Contest details here.

Hello! Can you do a short introduction of yourself and your group?

Kavana: Hi there! My names Kavana, aged 13, and I'm a part of Libera. Libera is a boys choir with an age range of 7-16, based in South London. We sing our own songs, like ‘Sanctus’ and also put our own harmonies into songs, like 'Orinoco Flow'. We get together about 4 times a week to rehearse, and we tour around the world, which is awesome!
Barney: My names Barney and I'm 11 years old. I would describe Libera as a unique group because we're all very young, but when we do our concerts, you wouldn't think we're just a bunch of boys from South London!

Will this be your first time here in Singapore? What are you hoping to see or any delicacies you want to try?
Kavana: This is our first time in Singapore, and for some of the little ones it will be their first time away with us, so we're all excited. We don't know much about Singapore, but from what we have heard the food is great! We also interested to taste some Hawker food as well.
Barney: This will be my first time in Singapore so I'm really excited; I love noodles and spicy foods and I’m looking forward to tasting the real thing!

What are your training sessions like?
Kavana: Our rehearsals are very fun. Even though some of them can be long, we all enjoy it. It's particularly good because of course we're with friends, so it's also a time to meet up with them.
Barney: Rehearsals are hard work but they're definitely worth it. When we arrive at a rehearsal, we're all a bit rusty after a long day at school so we get to do lots of fun warm ups.

At such a young age, you boys have displayed such amazing talents! How did you discover your passion for singing?
Kavana: Thank you! Even at a young age, we still all knew what we liked and didn't. I guess the passion for singing just comes naturally, if you like, as well as the passion for music.

Barney: I first discovered that I could sing when I was 8. I had to sing at my school play because I was Little John from Robin Hood. All of my friends said I had a talent and my parents took me out for a special dinner!

Who is the one singer that you would like to work with?
Kavana: Over the years as a group, we have sung with many fantastic singers, like Bocelli, Katherine Jenkins and even Pavarotti. I'm not sure really, as we all have our different opinions. Of course, we love singing and meeting new people as well.
Barney: If I could sing with any singer then I would definitely choose Adele because I really like the richness if her voice and I'm always singing along to ' Someone Like You'!

Juggling both school life and singing professionally is pretty tough. How do you boys manage it?
Kavana: Surprisingly, it's very manageable. In rehearsals sometimes we have homework sessions and things like that. Occasionally we have to take a day off to catch a flight somewhere, but that's about it. At school, all our friends are supportive of it as well, which is a great help
Barney: It can sometimes be hard to get all my homework done in time for rehearsals but apart from that, it's usually fine.

What can we expect in the future for Libera?
Kavana: That's a tough one. Another album maybe, some television appearances. But of course, the concerts first (which of course you should come to!).
Barney: I think that the future of Libera is always changing – a little bit at a time, as new 7 year olds join, and older ones start to sing with their new lower voices. This means that this week we have lots of ‘miniboys’ – as we call our new boys - who've never been on tour or sang on stage before. Obviously they will adapt and become extremely good singers thanks to our excellent coaching. But for now they'll have to work really hard to learn masses of music, and where to stand, and which harmony part to sing.

I'm Finally Gonna See Libera At Singapore

*Update (26 March, 2012): My dad officially got the concert tickets today :D. And as promised, I will post the photo once we got them. And there you have it. Plus, another surprise was I got A's in both of my January and February exams. Doesn't matter if its a minus. Woo hoo!! Two surprises in one day. This must be my happy day. I guess this concert is like a reward for doing well in exams :).

28 Dec, 2011:
Yep. It's official. I'm gonna see Libera live in Singapore, after waiting for two years :). Yeah, I already mention this in the birthday posts. And what's good news is that on Friday is a Good Friday, so it means I'm off for that day. No need to take leave. Whew! And the price isn't that expensive too. My mom just booked the tickets at Sistic website while I'm eating my lunch today. Before the booking started, I told my parents about the concert in Singapore. And my dad approves. Yay! Thank you, mama and daddy for approval. After all, they promise me I can go if it's Singapore. Because before this, they always say no when I convince them for the Philippines. Oh well. I got no choice but to pray. So in the end, God answers my prayers and I'm finally going to Singapore for the concert AT LAST!! Can't wait for 6 April 2012.
We'll pick up the tickets at Berjaya Times Square. Will take a photo to show you guys later once we get them.

Interview With Barney and Ralph

Libera (Singapore) posted an article from "The Life Of A Choir Boy" site. It's an interview with Barney and Ralph. Thanks, guys :D. According to them, they said it's the first series of interviews with the local media (meaning SG of course). Will there be another one? Well, we'll find out soon. Always keep an eye look out for their tweets or updates in their Twitter and Facebook which you could like/follow below:-

https://twitter.com/#!/LiberaSingapore (Twitter page) - If you follow them, they'll follow you ;)

You can read more here. I'll just post the interview from the article.

How long have you been in the choir and how did you get involved with Libera?
Barney: Two and a bit years.
Ralph: I’ve been in the choir about six and a half years, I think. I came into the choir like most boys do—with an audition, at my teacher’s suggestion.
Who are your favorite singers?
Barney: Adele and Rizzle Kicks.
Ralph: Mumford and Sons—they’re a small English band and they’re quite cool.
So which has been one of your most memorable performances?
Barney: Probably at Arundel Cathedral—it was my first concert and it was me and some other mini boys and it was really good fun.
Ralph: I think that was the Papal Mass at the Yankee Stadium—that was amazing.
What is the toughest thing about being in a traveling choir?
Barney: On my first tour I was a bit unsure about being away from home, but you get used to it and it’s like a sort-of family as we are all friends.
Ralph: The hardest thing when you are traveling with a group is that everything takes so long because we have lots of tickets and passports to get through and things like that. But it’s a great experience and we always fill the time with some jokes or card tricks.
And what do you like best about being in a choir like Libera?
Barney: I get to travel the world—I’ve been to the Philippines, America and Canada, and I’ll be going to Japan and Singapore, which is quite good for one year!
Ralph: The best part of it is in the singing and touring, which may just set you up for life in a musical.
How would you describe the sound of Libera to someone who has never heard you?
Barney: Angelic, as everyone says, but it’s really all about a blend, not just solos. It’s the choir coming together to make one amazing sound.
Ralph: We have a unique sound—kind of a cross between classical and church music, and quite upbeat. We write a lot of it ourselves.

Singapore Fan Project

Update (12 March): Remember about the fan project where you sent in your written or video messages? Well, the teaser is out now!! Here's a message from the admins of Libera (Singapore):-

We are proud to present to you a teaser of the Singapore fan project! The full video will not be released as some fans have requested for privacy. If you do not see your message/video here, do not be disappointed just yet. Rest assured, your message/video will be included in the full video, and the Libera boys will get to see it! Libera (Singapore) is just one of the supporters of this project, and we duly acknowledge the efforts of all other like-minded contributors, without whom, this project would not have been possible.

Well done. Cheers to some of the Singaporean fans who worked so hard to make this project :).  Since the video is unlisted, click here to see the video. Full credits goes to the fans. Thanks.

14 Feb:

Hey everyone. Listen to this: Libera (Singapore) admins have decided to do a fan project. Which means you can send your messages to the Libera boys. It can be anyone, like your favorite member or the whole group, even the mini ones :). Your messages will be put into a DVD, which will be handed over to them. But remember, Skype names, phone numbers and email addresses are not allowed to be written in your message. Do try to message "Libera" than individual members to avoid disappointments on the new, young ones. Send in your messages through this email: letters2libera@hotmail.com by 29th February 2012. So what are you all waiting for? Hurry and message them :D!!!

Article about Singapore Concert

Jimmy Riddle found an article about the upcoming Singapore concert on Yahoo! SG site. Thank you. You can read more from the article here. Oh boy! Only 33 days left to go :D. Not too far away now.

Hear the sound of heavenly voices when London's chart-topping boys' choir Libera comes to perform in Singapore for the first time in April.
The choir is made up of boys aged seven to sixteen who hail from various social backgrounds. Each youth possesses an amazing vocal quality, and together they create the distinctive sound Libera has become famous for.
The boys have performed to sold-out concerts around the world, from the UK to the U.S. and to other parts of Asia. Also, their albums have been topping both mainstream and classical charts consistently.
Libera's songs are a wonderful blend of classical, contemporary and new age sounds, which are composed and arranged to highlight the unique quality of each boy's voice.

New Loose Moose Blog

This is not made by the quintets of the Loose Moose but by Yuni, a fan from Indonesia. She also owns this blog, Madine Lover. Instead of a Libera blog, she decided to make a blog for the Loose Moose shows and updates. Wonderful idea too :). In this way we can keep an eye on any of their updates just by clicking on the link below the photo. Terima kasih, Yuni :).

Loose Moose' Official YouTube Channel

Loose Moose has just posted a very strange but unique video telling us that they'll be having their official YouTube channel. The video shows a monster hand with a notice I mention just now. I wonder how they did this video, especially with the green monster hand. But anyway, thanks a lot, dear moose :). If you have a YT account, subscribe now by clicking on the link below.

14 January:

Concert poster for Tokyo is out now. Thank you to Hiromi for sharing with us. The background of the black and white poster looks new to me. It's a picture of the boys in front of Cathedral Basilica in St Louis. Looks nice btw :).
